Spring is coming!

We've had some lovely days these past two weeks, but that's all about to end. We are seeing lots of crocus blooming and the daffodils are just about to pop. The upcoming rain will be a boon for all the plants ready to leaf out and start blooming, but folks around here are feeling pretty over it!

I had a great time visiting Bainbridge Island recently and attending my friend Michael's annual Fish Taco party. What a blast! We played games, we wore costumes, we enjoyed refreshments, and we, of course, ate fish tacos. I can't say enough about this fabulous group of rapscallions (but then maybe I've said too much already).

Mid-winter post

Having just passed the mid-winter point (Imbolc and Groundhog's Day), I wanted to post a few signs that spring will not forget us this year. Yesterday I saw a yard full of purple crocus! The morning birdsong is changing to a more spring-like composition and the breezes are warming. The mix of rain and sun brought two rainbows to my very doorstep last week -- how can I complain about rain? The weather forecast calls for a week of sun and highs near 60 degrees! People will be absolutely giddy in the Pacific northwest after a record-breaking winter of rain. But it's not quite time to set out the tomatoes....

I had a visit from my cousin Jessica Hughes, her two friends, and their three dogs. Jessie and I haven't seen each other in several years and this was her first trip to the West Coast, so it was great to see her.
